Rodent  Control: Rats are some of the most troublesome and damaging pests in India. Rats are incredibly elusive and can cause serious property damage, they only need 3 to 4 grams of food per day to survive.  As the teeth of rodents continue to grow over their lifetime (Rats' front teeth (incisors) can grow 5 inches per year), Therefore, if they don't gnaw on things, their teeth will grow longer than their bodies, they need to gnaw on hard substances such as lead and plastic pipes, insulation material and electric wiring. This habit increases the risk of short circuits and fires. This makes them the most destructive structural pest. Rats, especially young ones, can squeeze beneath a door with only a 2 cm gap. If the door is made of wood, the rat may gnaw to enlarge the gap. They consume and contaminate food, damage structures, and property, and transmit parasites and diseases to other animals and humans. Rats habitat and thrive under different climatic conditions. They are often found in and around homes and other buildings, factories, farms, gardens, etc.

Rats cause many ways to transmit decease to human By biting, By infecting human food with urine and droppings, By infecting skin wounds with urine, and By dying in a water source meant for drinking.

Rats introduce secondary pests. Rats are also known to introduce other pests, such as fleas, mites, and ticks into the premise, causing an additional health risk.

Types of Rats:

House Mouse (Mus musculus): Generally found in every house, While these rodents may look cute, mice spread more germs than most people realize. House mice can pose significant health and property threats. House mice breed rapidly and can adapt quickly to changing conditions. A female house mouse can give birth to a half dozen babies every three weeks and can produce up to 35 young per year. House Mouse may enter the home/commercial premise through gaps in doors, windows or ceilings, Electrical wire, sewer lines, drainage pipes, sink or bathtub drains. They are also known to find their way inside via entry holes around plumbing and oven gas lines.

Roof Rat (Rattus rattus): Roof rats are known by a variety of other names including palm rats, fruit rats, ship rats, and Alexandrian rats. The roof rat gets its name from its tendency to find shelter in the upper parts of buildings. Roof rats are long and thin rodents that have large eyes and ears, a pointed nose, and a scaly tail. Roof rats have soft and smooth fur that is typically brown with intermixed spots of black. Their undersides are often white, gray, or black.  Roof rats are good climbers and nest up high. They use tree limbs for traveling and easily get into your house if there are open areas to squeeze through. Roof rats can also get into your home in other ways, including climbing vines near the home, traveling along power lines, climbing rough surfaces, such as brick and concrete blocks.

Bandicoot Rats (Bandicota Indica): There are two types of bandicoot rats, greater bandicoot rats, and lesser bandicoots. The greater bandicoot rat (Bandicota Indica) is the largest, weighing 0.5 to 1 kg (1.1 to 2.2 pounds). The shaggy, blackish-brown body is 19 to 33 cm (7.5 to 13 inches) long, not including a scantily haired tail of about the same length. The lesser bandicoot rat (Bandicota bengalensis) have dark brown or brownish-gray body fur, weigh up to 350 grams, and measure up to 40 cm long including their brown tails. These two terrestrial species are nocturnal or active at twilight, constructing burrows where they nest and breed, which number from 2 to 18. They subsist on grains, fruit, and invertebrates and are destructive to crops. The lesser bandicoot rat, an especially aggressive burrower, has been reported to make tunnels in the concrete cellars of rice warehouses. If you think you have these types of rats, it is important to act quickly to control the level of infestation and reduce the health risks posed by these rats.
